Description
Suppai (meaning ‘sour’) is a new plum sake from Wakayama Prefecture, the plum heart of Japan. The Heiwa Shuzō brewery has its own orchards and adheres to the principle of slow-brew. For this exquisite and full-flavored umeshu, three times more plums have been used than normal and the plums have been kept in the sake for a very long time, giving it extra plum flavor and aroma and making it extra sour.
Perfect on a warm sunny afternoon, as an aperitif, with a dessert or as an ingredient in a cocktail. Serve ice cold, straight or on-the-rocks, for the best balance of sweet and sour.

Brewery
Established in 1928, Heiwa Shuzo (Peace Brewery) is located just outside Kainan City in Wakayama. The site of the brewery was a temple for more than 500 years before the brewery was established. Sake production did not begin until 1957. The brewery is located in a valley surrounded by mountains blessed with abundant rainfall, resulting in a limitless supply of good quality soft spring water, perfect for brewing Sake.
The ‘Tsuru-ume’ range was created to reflect the quality of the many local products available in Wakayama. By working directly with Ume & Yuzu farmers, Heiwa Shuzo is able to secure some of the country's best fruit. Wakayama Ume represents 40% of all Ume grown in Japan and is considered the best Ume fruit source. Citrus fruits such as lemon, yuzu and Mikan are also grown locally and used to make products in the ‘Tsuru-ume’ range.
