Breeding Guide

Legs

Repot in spring and early summer. Use a pot that is 25% larger than the existing pot. For best results, use a compost designed for citrus that is fairly draining and acidic. Prune to desired shape, keep fast-growing shoots under control, which occasionally grow much faster than the rest of the plant, by pruning to match surrounding growth. A round, bushy appearance is the most common shape for citrus trees, and they will often assume this shape with little intervention. They can reach a height of 5 m and can be easily operated to maintain a smaller size.

Maintenance

Water well so that all the compost in the pot is hydrated and allow the compost to dry thoroughly before watering again. This is a more appropriate approach than leaving few and often plants never in water. Like all citrus fruits, they are hungry plants, so feed a citrus fertilizer regularly according to the product's instructions.

Traditional citrus pests are spider mites, aphids, leaf miners and scale insects. Usually treat with a soap-based spray, it is good practice to rinse the plant with this once a month to prevent accumulation.

Harvesting

Blossom usually appears in summer (first year) and spring in the second year. Buddha's Hands are self-fertile, fruits are initially very dark green, even a little purple, they soon acquire their unique many-fingered appearance. As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, the fruits usually ripen into large, yellow fruits in time for Christmas.

Shipping

The trees are pruned for transport. The trees are then shipped with the utmost care in a large plant box. However, it may happen that a branch breaks. Don't worry, the tree will make new shoots within the few months.

These are large trees they are therefore shipped with a separate DHL shipping service. This usually offers the package twice. Should it fail to deliver the package in these two times, it will be returned. Most pickup locations do not accept the package.
