Description
Monaka is a kind of Wagashi (“Japanese sweets”) consisting of two shells made of sticky rice with a filling of sweet red bean paste made from azuki beans between them (anko/an) (also available in our assortment). Use these beautiful shells to make your own Monaka at home.
The shells are made from sticky rice (flour) and then toasted. You can taste a little of this roasting in the shells as well.
Fill them traditionally with sweet red bean paste (anko/an), or experiment with custard, jam or ice cream! Because of their beautiful presentation, more and more chefs are experimenting with other savory dishes in addition to sweet dishes.
To make the shells extra crispy put them in a hot oven ~200°C for 30 seconds. This is especially advisable with the large package because the shells become less crispy after opening after some time.
Content: 30 shells (15 monaka sets).
Size: W55 × D55 × H12.5 mm, 13 cc (per shell).
