The topping is produced by Maruri Foods, a family business from Soma, Fukushima, Japan, founded in 1993. The company specializes in Hitoegusa Aosa seaweed, renowned for its aroma and texture. A pioneer in the production of frozen Aosa for the Japanese market, Maruri Foods developed advanced brushing and washing methods to remove impurities and bacteria to deliver an exceptionally pure product. Having relaunched in 2018 after the severe trials of the 2011 tsunami, Maruri Foods is continuing its innovative course and has since expanded its market internationally.
