What is shiso?
Shiso are the leaves of the perilla plant. This plant is related to the mint and is also called Japanese basil. Shiso has a strong and spicy taste, ranging from sweet and spicy, with notes of cinnamon, cumin and citrus. This beautiful full flavor combination makes shiso very versatile and you can use it in many dishes.
Our shiso syrup consists of only three ingredients (Purple shiso, water, sugar) and can be used for a delicious lemonade, dessert or a delicious mocktail like the recipe below.
10 minutes preparation time
- Shiso syrup (or any other syrup)
- 4 juice oranges
- Sparkling mineral water
- Blueberries and/or raspberries
- Ice cubes
