Mocktail with Shiso syrup

This delicious mocktail (without alcohol) is made in no time and is particularly fun as a welcome drink for Christmas or New Year's Eve, for example!

Shiso

Shiso are the leaves of the perilla plant. This plant is related to mint and is also called Japanese basil. Shiso has a powerful and spicy flavor, lending from sweet and spicy, with notes of cinnamon, cumin and citrus. This nice full flavor combination makes shiso very versatile and you can use it in many dishes.

You can use the delicious shiso syrup from our range for such things as a lemonade, dessert or festive mocktail as in the recipe below.

Ingredients

  • shiso syrup (or other syrup as desired)
  • 4 press oranges
  • sparkling mineral water
  • blueberries and/or raspberries
  • ice cubes
  • sprigs of rosemary for garnish

Preparation

  1. Squeeze the oranges and divide the orange juice between two glasses.

  2. To the orange juice, pour a splash of sparkling mineral water and add the ice cubes.

  3. Finally, add a splash of shiso syrup and the blueberries. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

Tip!

Still prefer a cocktail (with alcohol)? Then you can substitute the sparkling mineral water for an alcoholic beverage such as gin.
